Mercer Island High School quarterback Jeff Lindquist was honored this week as the U.S. Army High School Player of the week.

The program, which partners with the Seattle Seahawks, chooses a student athlete at local high schools based on their academic, community and game performance. Lindquist was chosen thanks to his work on and off the field, including strong game play during the Islanders win over Interlake.

He was presented with the honor, including a $250 check for the high school’s ASB fund, prior to practice on Tuesday afternoon.

He will also received two sideline tickets to the Seahawks game against the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 24, where he will be recognized during the game.

The honor was presented to him by Sgt. Shane Van Fossen, in charge of Army recruiting for the Bellevue and Mercer Island area, as well as Madi Koch, a member of the Sea Gals.

It is the first time a player at Mercer Island has been chosen the Player of the Week.
