The Mercer Island girls fifth grade select basketball team won the Skyline Tip-Off Classic in the middle of November and the Cold Turkey Tournament at Newport.

In the Skyline tournament, the team was 3-0 in pool play, beating Ferndale, Monroe and Redmond before meeting Eastlake in the semifinals and Skyline in the championships. They won their final game 34-12 to earn the title.

In the Cold Turkey tournament, following Thanksgiving, the team won by beating Woodinville and Bellevue in pool play, before taking down Skyline and Jackson in the championship. The girls won the title with a 33-16 win.
