The Mercer Island boys basketball team suffered its second consecutive KingCo loss Friday, losing to Bellevue 60-44 at Bellevue High School. The loss dropped the Islanders to third place in the KingCo standings, with a 4-2 conference record and an overall record of 8-3.

Bellevue got off to a quick start, jumping out to a 13-4 first-quarter lead. Mercer Island fought back, outscoring the Wolverines 16-12 in the second quarter to trail 25-20 at the half. But Bellevue pulled away in the third quarter, going on a 9-0 run during a 23-10 third-quarter outburst. Andrew Pickles led the Islanders in scoring with 15 points. Kaleb Warner had 12 points, Jake Stenberg scored 8 points and Nick Taylor contributed 6 points for Mercer Island.

Next up, Mercer Island will take on Interlake at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13 at Mercer Island High School.
