Mercer Island falls to top 25 team Duxbury | Boys prep lacrosse

The Mercer Island boys lacrosse team, traveling on the East Coast as part of the team's spring break trip, played Duxbury on Tuesday, April 2. Duxbury, currently ranked as one of the top 25 teams in the country, beat the Islanders 8-4.

The Islanders played a close game, holding the Massachusetts team to a 3-2 lead at the end of the first half. But Duxbury exploded in the second half, scoring five more points during the final minutes.

Steen Swedstedt had two goals in the game and five ground balls, while Grant Preisler scored one goal with one ground ball. Peter Mahony scored a goal with one assist and two ground balls. Justin Rorem had one assist and two ground balls.

The Islanders will play Scarborough, a team from Maine on Thursday, April 4, before playing Concord-Carlisle of Massachusetts on Friday.
