Mercer Island soccer players lead program to collect cleats for Africa

The Eastside FC soccer B99 Red team teamed up with the Soccer2Unite program to support soccer players in Uganda, Africa. Soccer2Unite is a nonprofit organization that has worked since 1973 to enrich underprivlleged children’s lives through the sport of soccer.

The philanthropic project, which was led by Mercer Island High School soccer players Reis Kissel, Hunter Bauman and Alex Platou over the summer, concluded with more than 100 pairs of soccer cleats, 200 soccer balls and more than 75 full soccer uniform kits and a variety of additional soccer gear collected. All of the gear collected will be delivered to two Ugandan cities in Africa this November. Kissel, Bauman, Platou and Chance Fry (Eastside FC executive director) are pictured above.
