MIHS footballers rack up solid stats

Mercer Island High School football KingCo Mountain Division all-leaguers: Jonah Thiese, David James Jr, Chase Kelly, Joey Weiss, Brendan McGuire, Jonah Battema, Shaun Wurster, Roman Hanlon, Kainoa Brown, Riley Anderson and Ari Wolff. Following are some of the Islanders’ statistics for this season: Quarterback Dillon Carroll was 89-for-181 passing for 1,158 yards and four TDs; quarterback Luke Christofferson was 42-for-80 passing for 507 yards and seven TDs; running back Brown had 101 carries for 420 yards and seven TDs; on the receiving front, James Jr. had 30 receptions for 345 yards and one TD, Battema had 21 receptions for 143 yards and one TD, Brown had 19 receptions for 290 yards, Anderson had 19 receptions for 258 yards and Kelly had 18 receptions for 243 yards and three TDs; Kelly had four interceptions; in the tackling realm, Myles Mastalir had 98 total tackles (37 solo, 61 assist), McGuire had 78 total tackles (30 solo, 48 assist) and Battema 61 total tackles (21 solo, 40 assist); and kicker Hanlon made 21 of 22 PATs and eight field goals with a long field goal of 47 yards.
