MIHS girls win district team tennis title

Eight local boys and girls are headed to state.

For the second straight season, the Mercer Island High School (MIHS) girls tennis team won the 3A SeaKing District championship.

On May 13-14 at Lower Woodland in Seattle, Caitlyn Ying placed first in singles, Rachel Garton/Sarah Garton took first in doubles and Mia Kinney/ Jayne Tintle notched sixth in doubles. All the Islanders qualify for the state tournament from May 23-24 at the Vancouver Tennis Center.

For the MIHS boys, they took second in the district team standings just one point behind champion Seattle Prep.
