MIHS volleyball squad ends season just short of state

Mercer Island High School’s volleyball team finished its season one win short of qualifying for the 3A state tournament.

On Nov. 12, Holy Names Academy defeated the locals, 3-2, at the 3A District 2 tournament to advance to the big dance and the Islanders’ season came to a close at Lakeside School in Seattle.

In the first round on Nov. 10, the Islanders beat West Seattle and lost to Bishop Blanchet, both by 3-0 scores. The top six teams at district earned berths to state, which will occur on Nov. 17-18 at the Yakima Valley Sundome.
