Mercer Island High School (MIHS) senior golfer Lucia Morelli took second at the girls 3A state championships on May 21-22 at Eagles Pride Golf Course in DuPont. She shot a 75-73-148.

The Islanders tied for fourth with Gig Harbor in the team standings.

Rounding out the MIHS girls squad at state were: senior Nina Baston (36th with a 96-81-177); freshman Sabria Elarefi (tied for 39th with a 95-85-180); junior Estella Roodman (60th with a 98-96-194); and junior Hannah Hsu (tied for 63rd with a 94-104-198).

On the boys’ side at 3A state, MIHS senior Elliott Hoang tied for fifth with a 74-76-150 on May 21-22 at The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie (The Links) in Lacey. Islander sophomore Alex Harwood tied for 24th with an 81-75-156.

MIHS senior Ryan Jacobson and juniors Jack Besecker and Adam Elarefi also competed at state.
