The teams were tied 2-2 going into the second inning, but Mercer Island quickly outscored Sammamish, scoring three unanswered runs in the top of the second and another two in the third. Sammamish crossed home plate twice in the third to make it a 7-4 game, and though the Islanders posted one run in the top of the fourth, the Totems tried to even out the score with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Mercer Island held a slight lead 8-7, and neither team scored in the sixth, seventh or eighth innings. In the top of the ninth, the Islanders scored one run, but Sammamish added two to take the game.

Makenna Pellerin was 3-5 at the plate, with two RBI and a double. Pitcher Morgan Peyou threw for nine innings and struck out three.

Mercer Island will travel to play Interlake on Thursday, April 18 in a 4:30 p.m. game.
