Bruce Foster

Bruce Foster

1941 – 2016

Bruce moved from England to Colorado in 1953. He attended the U of Colorado–Boulder, deciding to study engineering over piano. CU-Boulder offered him the opportunity to pursue a master’s in aerospace engineering, ROTC, and flying, leading to a position at The Boeing Company. Piano playing, though, was his life-long love and mental discipline. Bruce instructed and flew for the USAF during the 1960/70s. From military service he rejoined The Boeing Company for the next 40+ years. His work at Boeing began with engineering and turned into computerizing the production-change control. Bruce moved to Mercer Island in 1965, and in 1986, he married Susanne Müller, from Germany. In 1991 and 1994, Phillip and Max were born.

Upon retiring from Boeing for the fourth time, in 2013, Bruce’s peers joked that he had to buy his retirement cake from now on. Bruce appreciated the many friends who visited him in the past year. The family thanks EvergreenHealth, SCCA, Evergreen Hospice Care, and Drs. Ellis, Lonergan, Moore, and staff for their compassion and kindness. Memorials may be given to The Museum of Flight, Mercer Island Boy Scout Troop 457, or the Mercer Island Schools Band Program.
