Special to the Reporter

The Stanley Ann Dunham Scholarship Fund (SADSF) will celebrate the achievements of its scholarship recipients at its award ceremony at 2 p.m. on May 11 at Mercer Island High School.

Keynote speaker Dr. Maya Soetoro-Ng will share her insights on leadership, education and global citizenship, values embodied by the SADSF mission. Dr. Soetoro-Ng is an educator, author and daughter of Dr. Stanley Ann Dunham.

The SADSF supports young women in achieving their educational aspirations and becoming community leaders. Dr. Dunham, an alumna of Mercer Island High School and anthropologist committed to global development, embodied this attitude.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Soetoro-Ng join us for this momentous occasion,” said Dr. Michelle Flowers-Taylor, board chair of the SADSF. “Her dedication to education and her personal connection as the daughter of Dr. Dunham make her an ideal speaker to inspire our scholarship recipients.”
