Islander boys advance to districts, beat Juanita

The Mercer Island boys basketball team advanced to the district playoffs with the No. 3 seed from KingCo thanks to a 56-48 victory against Juanita.

But the win didn’t come without some anxiety. Mercer Island held an 18-point lead during the third period, which evaporated to just five points with less than two minutes remaining in the game.

Islander Peter Zajac led the team with 19 points.
