MIHS girls track and field team dominates at 3A KingCo championships

In a girls lacrosse state championship final contest that went down to the wire on May 15, Eastside Catholic High School clinched a 15–14 overtime victory over Mercer Island High School (MIHS) at the Starfire Sports stadium in Tukwila. MIHS battled back from a three-goal deficit early in the third quarter to tie the game, with momentum swinging back and forth for the remainder of the matchup. There were many standout performances and a stellar defensive effort throughout the night, according to team representatives, adding that “the game was a true testament to their hard work, determination and teamwork all season long.” MIHS beat Shoreline, 17-3, in the first round, defeated Lakeside, 19-8, in the quarterfinals and downed Northshore, 16-5 in the semifinals.
