Mercer Island boys basketball season comes to an end with 74-67 loss

The Mercer Island boys basketball team’s season came to an end during the first round of districts Tuesday with a 74-67 loss to Chief Sealth. The Islanders trailed by as much as 18 points during the third quarter but made a run to cut the lead to just five with 1:52 remaining. The torrid scoring pace by the Islanders was set off by senior Robbie Taylor, scoring three three-pointers during the fourth period. Taylor finished the game with 18 points on six shots from beyond the arch.

The Seahawk’s Jordan Kidd proved to be too much for the Islanders as the senior scored 31 points to lead all scorers for the game.

Mercer Island finishes the season with a 9-3 in-league mark and a 16-11 overall record.
