MISD opens online survey about later high school start times

The Mercer Island School District (MISD) opened an online survey Tuesday, May 12 for parents to provide feedback on the possibility of later high school start times. The survey follows an open house hosted by the High School Start-Time Committee on May 7. Four MISD committee members, including parents and staff, discussed potential impacts with community members at that event.

“The online survey provides an opportunity for parents to provide their feedback about the implications of a change in high school start times,” said MISD Chief Finance/Operations Officer Dean Mack. “We want to get as much feedback from the community as we can.”

The survey will close on May 22.

The full High School Start-Time Committee includes parents, teachers, technical staff, and administrators from the Bellevue and Mercer Island School Districts. The joint committee has been meeting since November to study and discuss research on moving high school start times to later in the morning.
