Bevy of Mercer Island grapplers advance to regionals

The Mercer Island Islanders wrestling squad competed at the KingCo/Wesco 3A sub-regionals on Feb. 2 at Edmonds-Woodway High School.

Seven Mercer Island wrestlers advanced to the regional tournament courtesy of top five performances in their respective weight divisions. Mercer Island wrestlers capturing first place in their respective weight divisions consisted of Eli Pruchno (138), Colin Farrell (182) and Donnie Howard (195). Mercer Island 195-pound wrestler Owen Baebler earned second place in his weight class. Andrew Motz (132) and Jack Harper (160) finished in third place in their weight classes. Conner Hill (182) finished in fourth place.
