People participate in a surprise parade on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the life of legendary Mercer Island High School boys basketball coach Ed Pepple, who passed away on Sept. 14 at the age of 88. The event also honored his widow, Shirley, who will move to San Diego — to be with her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren — after living on the Island for 53 years.
