Islanders notch KingCo championships

The Mercer Island High School (MIHS) boys tennis team won the KingCo tournament championship on Oct. 26 and Joe DeGracia placed first in singles, Gian Manhas/Nolan Bang placed first in doubles and Luke Loiselle/Minh Luu placed third in doubles. On the cross country scene on Oct. 26, both the girls and boys teams defended their KingCo team titles on an ultra-soggy Lake Sammamish State Park course. Senior Owen Powell and sophomore Sophia Rodriguez defended their individual titles. Next up for the harriers is the 3A District 2 meet on Oct. 31 at Lower Woodland in Seattle.
