Beginning Sept. 18, Washington State Department of Transportation will close the Interstate 90 eastbound on-ramp at East Mercer Way for six to eight days and the HOV on-ramp at 80th Avenue Southeast for 16 days to complete essential roadway repairs and replace failing expansion joints on the East Channel Bridge, according to the city of Mercer Island. The city said that drivers should expect major delays: “This closure is expected to be highly disruptive, as drivers will find it much more difficult and time-consuming to move around the Island, as well as access I-90 to leave the Island. Detour routes will carry higher-than-normal traffic volumes and are likely to experience significant backups as drivers move through the area during the closure.” For more information, detour routes and more, visit: https://orlo.uk/D60Ug.
