Opportunities to Attend Community Special Events:

• April Earth Month activities include park volunteer restoration events, Garden Club get-togethers and seasonal nature journaling. More information at www.mercerisland.gov/publicworks

Opportunities to Join Boards and Commissions:

• Applications are open for boards and commission positions on the Arts Council, Open Space Conservancy, Parks and Recreation Commission and the Utility Board. Applications can be found at www.mercerisland.gov/bc

Opportunities to Learn More/Provide Feedback:

• Mercer Island residents still have opportunity to comment on the city’s Transportation Improvement Plan, one for the 2027-2032 time frame. To submit feedback, visit https://letstalk.mercergov.org/tip-2026. Comments received by April 21 will be included in the materials for the May 5 city council meeting.

• Next city council meeting: 5 p.m. on April 21. Options for joining the meeting include in person at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center, a Zoom link on the city’s website and MI-TV (Channel 21). Citizen appearances: An opportunity to speak to the city council on items of interest. Speakers must register by 4 p.m. on the day of the council meeting at cityclerk@mercerisland.gov and are given three minutes to speak.

Gatherings With Councilmembers:

• Councilmember Ted Weinberg will hold his next monthly gathering on April 18 for a brunch at Valhalla Restaurant on Mercer Island, providing an opportunity to discuss a variety of topics of interest for Mercer Island residents. If you would like to attend, an RSVP is appreciated at tedweinberg@comcast.net.

• “Ride the Light Rail with Councilmember Julie Hsieh.” On May 7, join Hsieh to take Island Bus 204 (meeting at 10:45 a.m.) from the south end QFC to the light rail station, then head to Pike Place Market for lunch. Contact juliehsieh@outlook.com.
