John Matthew Eagle
July 16, 1959- April 27, 2026
It is with profound sadness that our family announces the death of John Matthew Eagle. Born July 16th 1959 in Seattle, John was a raised on Mercer Island and attended Mercer Island high school , graduating in 1977. That same year, John was crowned prom king, much to his surprised but not ours! He was so kind and so handsome!
John attended the university of Washington, studying business and economics and was a proud and active member of the Beta house where he blossomed into the gregarious, people loving person we all knew and loved.
John’s ability to connect with people was his biggest gift; customer service was second nature to John, whether a “shoe dog” at Nordstrom or managing restaurant businesses over the years.
John had a long struggle between sobriety and addiction and alcohol finally won the battled , John passed away on April 27th 2026.
John is survived by his father, Blake Eagle; his sister, Karen Zimmermann; and his nieces and nephew and their spouses: Lauren Zimmermann and Bodhi Clarke, Janie Zimmermann and Agustin Pose, John Zimmermann and Laetizia Barreto. He is also survived by his great-nieces and nephews, Kelly, Adam, Thomas, Milo, Léon, and Zoey.
He is further survived by his stepbrothers and stepsister and their families: Bruce, Jolene, Austin, and Annika Cable; Neil Cable and Katy Ballard; and Allison Cable and Alvin Roberson; as well as our extended families, the Richards, McKinneys, McFaddens and the Watchies.
John was the definition of kindness and was generous to a fault. He cared so deeply about others. He loved his family and his friends fiercely, (world’s greatest son, big brother, uncle and friend) and he was happiest making others laugh and creating moments of connection through his humor, generosity, and love.
One dear friend and Beta brother summed it up by saying “he was our handsome, humorous social chairman. Always up for something fun and planned some of our best events. We will miss him greatly”.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on May 12th, 2026, at Skyline, 725 9th Ave, Seattle 98104 (24th floor), between 4 pm and 7 pm. We will gather to share our memories and love for John and celebrate his beautiful, kind and loving soul.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to a charity of your choice in John’s name.
With our deepest gratitude for your love and support.
