Starting with the community parade in the morning and concluding with a bang via a fireworks show in the evening, the city of Mercer Island will host its Summer Celebration on July 11.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. along 78th Avenue Southeast and wraps up at Mercerdale Park, where there will be music from The Pioneer Squares Band, a circus and kids zone, foam party and bubble stations, mini golf, Youth Theatre Northwest and Brian Ledbetter the magician. The event will also include touch-a-truck, community booths, art vendors and food trucks on adjacent streets. The plethora of activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In the evening beginning at 6 p.m., Luther Burbank Park will be the site for the Copastetic Band, stilt walkers, food trucks and the thunderous fireworks show at 10 p.m.

Shuttles to and from Luther Burbank Park will be available between 5:30-9 p.m. from Northwood and Island Park elementaries courtesy of the Mercer Island School District.

MOSTLY MUSIC IN THE PARK

There will plenty of tunes again this summer at Mostly Music in the Park from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursdays at Mercerdale Park. Here’s the talent: July 16 — Harmony of Rock (early 1970s rock); July 23 — 90’s Rewind (’90s tribute); July 30 — Abbagraphs (ABBA tribute) and Pride in the Park Night; Aug. 6 — Prom Date Mixtape (’80s new wave); Aug. 13 — Mr. Pink (’90s and 2000s tunes); and Aug. 20 — Diamond Star Halo (’70s glam rock).

SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK

Shakespeare in the Park will hit the Luther Burbank Park Amphitheatre stage with Wooden O productions of “Macbeth” by the Union Arts Center at 7 p.m. on July 9, 10, 12, 17, 18, 19, 22, 29 and 30 and Aug. 7 and 8; and 6 p.m. shows on Aug. 12, 13, 14 and 16.
