MIHS student arrested for intoxication at playoff game | Mercer Island Police Blotter

The principal of Mercer Island High School caught an 18-year-old student, who was intoxicated, climbing a fence during the playoff soccer game at 8:28 p.m. on Monday, May 9, in the 9100 block of S.E. 42nd Street. After the student was uncooperative, he was arrested by police.
May 3
Car prowl: A laptop and case were stolen from a Mercer Island woman’s vehicle in the 6000 block of 78th Avenue S.E. between 2 and 8 p.m. Roofers had helped the woman unload groceries out of her car, and she left it unlocked afterward. The roofing company denied any connection to the theft.
May 4
Fender-bender: A vehicle was rear-ended at a stoplight in the 3900 block of Island Crest Way by a driver who said he was not paying attention and was going too fast, the police report said. The collision happened at 8:15 a.m.
Arrest: A 19-year-old suspect was arrested after breaking a window in an apartment in the 3200 block of 80th Avenue S.E. He had violated his girlfriend’s court order and was in an argument with his mother.
May 5
Crash: A vehicle crashed through a fence in the 4100 block of 86th Avenue S.E. at 2:28 a.m. The crash awakened the resident, who saw the vehicle back into more fencing and drive away. A man was driving, with a female passenger. The resident’s vehicle was damaged from being hit, and police identified the suspect vehicle as a dark blue Toyota RAV4 after gathering several broken parts from the scene, including a passenger mirror and pieces of the front bumper.
Drugs: Police arrested a 15-year-old Islander Middle School student at 12:30 p.m. for possessing marijuana.
Stolen check: A Mercer Island woman, 21, cashed a $2,150 check from a potential employer sometime after April 16. After wiring the money to someone, she was notified that it was a stolen check. Her accounts were frozen.
May 6
Arrest: A Mercer Island man, 25, was arrested at 12:46 a.m. in the 7600 block of S.E. 27th Street with an outstanding King County Sheriff’s Office $10,000 DUI warrant. He was booked into the King County Jail.
Theft: Someone stole a GT Avalanche mountain bike from the roof rack of a Mercer Island man’s vehicle sometime after May 4 in the 2800 block of 78th Avenue S.E.
Arrest: Police arrested a Mercer Island woman, 45, for assaulting and injuring her husband during an argument. She was booked into the Issaquah Jail. There were two witnesses of the incident.
Accident: A vehicle pulled out from a stop sign and was T-boned by an oncoming car in the intersection of Island Crest Way and S.E. 63rd Street at 10:33 p.m. One driver’s elbow was scraped, and the other driver’s chest was sore. Both vehicles were towed.
May 7
Surrender: A 21-year-old Redmond man with outstanding warrants turned himself in at the Mercer Island police station at 1:56 p.m. He was booked into the King County Jail for assault and battery.
May 8
Arrest: Police stopped a vehicle when a lit cigar was flung from the window in the 5000 block of westbound I-90. Police arrested the driver, 18, and passenger, 14, after finding marijuana in the floorboard, a grinder and wrappers in the glove compartment, and vodka in the passenger’s backpack.
May 10
Vehicle impounded: A Cadillac parked at a stop sign on S.E. 67th Street was ticketed and towed after 8 p.m. There was no sign of the driver.
