After six weeks in the King County jail, 18-year-old Jared Kadish was released on Nov. 15 after he pleaded guilty in Superior Court to malicious harassment for his role in drawing graffiti at three Island schools. Sentencing is set for Dec.17, before King County Superior Court Judge Julie Spector. A $20,000 bond was posted for his release. Kadish along with two Mercer Island High School students who are both 17, has been charged with malicious harassment among other charges. The three were arrested on suspicion of a hate crime and other offenses when they defaced three Island schools,including Northwest Yeshiva High School with anti-Semitic and other offensive images and words. The two 17-year-olds were initially arrested and taken to the King County Juvenile facility and released soon after the incident. Kadish’s parents issued a statement soon after their son’s arrest (posted to www-cmg-northwest2.go-vip.net/mi-reporter) to apologize on behalf of their son to the community.
