Mercer Island High School ranked 5th in state

The Puget Sound Business Journal put together a list of the top Washington state high schools, ranked by school performance. The State Board of Education computes a school achievement index every year. The index looks at student test scores, graduation rates, district growth and other factors to determine how schools across the state are doing and to identify schools that may be struggling.

The PSBJ ranking is based on that index from the 2012-13 school year, and only includes those schools that make the highest-ranked category.

The Mercer Island School district was ranked No. 5 of all districts using the state data. The high school ranked No. 1 is Freeman High School in Eastern Washington. It has just under 310 students. The other top high schools on the list are Aviation High School, No. 2, Waitsburg High School, No. 3 and Bainbridge High School, No. 4.
