The Washington Stealth professional lacrosse team will be hosting a public training camp free of charge on Dec. 5 at the Comcast Arena. Thirty-four players have been invited to participate with the hopes of making the 2010 team.
The Washington Stealth will kick off their inaugural season on Jan. 9 2010, and the roster of players feature two with Mercer Island connections. Jason Bloom, a current resident of the Island, plays transition, as does Chris Taylor, a MIHS grad and former Islander lacrosse standout.
There will be two practices on Saturday, both open to the public. The first will take place from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and the second 5 to 7 p.m. at Comcast Arena in Everett.
“These open training camp sessions will provide our new fans in Washington an opportunity to see what indoor lacrosse is all about,” said Stealth Owner Denise Watkins in a press release. “It will also give everyone a chance to familiarize themselves with the players they will be cheering on this season.”
The Stealth will also be holding camps on Dec. 19 and Jan. 2 which will help the coaching staff narrow the roster to 23 players and three to the practice team.
The team’s first game of the season will be Jan. 9 at Comcast Arena again Colorado Mammoth, a long time West Division rival.
