The Mercer Island Police Department collected 140 pounds of prescription and over-the-counter medication at the annual drug take-back event on Oct. 29.

MIPD detective Chad Schumacher and evidence technician Kelly Donnelly participated in the Drug Take Back program again on Saturday, Oct. 29.

“It was a huge success for us,” said Cindy Goodwin, Director of Mercer Island Youth & Family Services. “Kelly and Chad collected 140 pounds of prescription and over-the-counter drugs that were not needed in MI households.”

The DEA sponsors this event each year and it has become such a huge success, that they may hold it twice each year. This was the third time the MIPD participated.
