‘Jewish Touch’ talk to honor Althea Stroum

Althea Stroum, a noted philanthropist and a namesake of the SJCC, died March 14. She was renowned for her great sense of humor and her ability to tell a good joke. In her memory, The SJCC is leading off the 2011-2012 season of The Jewish Touch series with a fitting lecture, “Jewish Humor in America,”  at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 25, at the SJCC at 3801 East Mercer Way.

Jeremy Dauber, professor of Yiddish and Jewish literature and culture at Columbia University and director of its Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies, will talk about American Jewish humor from Sholem Aleichem to Jerry Seinfeld.

Admission is free but seating is limited. Reservations are required.
