Introducing MIR board

To help the Reporter better represent community views in its editorials, the newspaper has a five-member editorial board consisting of three community members and two staff members. The board’s community members serve six-month terms.
Ken Glass is a technology marketing consultant who also spends many hours volunteering with schools and non-profits. He joined the editorial board because he cares a great deal about the community in which he and his family live. He’s as likely to be found telling jokes at Lakeridge lunches as he is working on school district projects. Ken was the New Jersey State High School Frisbee Champion and considers puns the purest form of humor.
Leslie Meagley, husband Rich; and daughters Kat and Lauren (who are both in MI schools) moved to Mercer Island in 1991. Leslie is a principal with Meagley Strategic Marketing, a consulting firm that works primarily with professional service firms. She is a big supporter of girls’ sports and is currently president of the MIHS Girls Soccer Booster Club, active in several professional associations and recently graduated from Leadership Tomorrow-Seattle.
Elliot Newman moved to Mercer Island with his wife Nancy in 1981 from Boston. They have two daughters. Newman has served two terms as mayor of Mercer Island and as a member of the City Council. He also chaired the city’s Planning Commission. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Northwest Anti Defamation League. Elliot is vice president of Alliances for Enviance, Inc.
