In a disaster, first responders and resources will be stretched thin and may not be immediately available to help. Join city of Mercer Island officials and volunteers to learn essential disaster preparedness and response skills at an upcoming Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training. Participants will learn fire safety and disaster medical skills, the basics of search and rescue and emergency preparedness, and more. The course, which is free and open to all Island residents and businesses, will take place on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center.
