Susanne Franziska Mueller Foster

Susanne Franziska Mueller Foster, born June 18, 1958, in Wemmel, Belgium, passed away February 18, 2026. Raised in Remscheid, Germany, she developed a lifelong love of plants, design, and craftsmanship. She studied horticulture at the University of Hannover and later moved to Western Washington in 1985, helping start T&L Nursery.

She married Bruce Foster in 1986, and together they built a home on Mercer Island, raising their sons Phillip and Max. Susanne became a beloved figure in the Seattle-area horticulture and arts communities, teaching, designing landscapes, and sharing her knowledge generously.

After Bruce’s cancer diagnosis, she turned to knitting, creating beautiful textile art inspired by her surroundings and heritage. She remained deeply engaged in her community, family, and creative pursuits throughout her life.

She is survived by her sons, daughters-in-law, and extended family in Germany.
