Community Day of Inclusion set for May 9

Mercer Island PTA’s Special Services and Learning Differences (SSALD) Group will host its third annual Community Day of Inclusion from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 9 at the Northwood Elementary School lower parking lot (4030 86th Ave. SE).
The free event for “every family and every ability,” according to a flier, will feature: touch-a-truck with police cars, school buses and first responders; adaptive dance with Creation Dance Studio; adaptive bikes; activity stations with creative art, bubbles and play stations for all ages; soccer fun; video game truck; resource fair with organizations that support kids with special needs and their families; bounce house; Blitz, the Seattle Seahawks’ mascot, and other surprise guests; food trucks and more.
Generous support comes from Rotary Club of Mercer Island, Outdoors for All, Mercer Island School District, Mercer Island Schools Foundation, PTAs (from Northwood, Lakeridge, Island Park and West Mercer elementaries) and PTSAs (from Islander Middle School and Mercer Island High School).
