Peter Hollern

September 21, 1949- June 28, 2025

Peter was born on September 21, 1949 to Terrence and Barbara Hollern in Evanston, IL. Peter was raised in San Marino, CA, where he graduated from San Marino High School before attending the University of Southern California, earning an MBA in Finance. During his time at USC, he became a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, forming lifelong friendships. A love of the Pacific Northwest led him and his new bride, Victoria, to begin their married life in Seattle, starting the drive the morning after their wedding. From Leschi to Madison Park, where they started their family, they ended up settling on Mercer Island. He continued his career in finance at Rainier National Bank at the 5th and Union branch. Peter left the commercial banking sector to pursue entrepreneurship, forming businesses that he lovingly named after his children.

Those who knew him will remember him for his love of (all) dogs, sports, cycling, hiking, travel, sweets, public transportation (routes 202 and 550), punctuality, good posture, and hand sanitizer. Aided by his excellent memory, a favorite pastime of his was telling stories of past experiences that he remembered fondly. Those included family vacations, coaching his children’s sports teams, Cub Scouts, Indian Guides and Princesses at Camp Orkila, helping his son with his Mercer Island Reporter paper route, summer road trips to Seattle and Everett to visit his mother’s family, and countless other childhood memories.

Peter will be remembered by his family for being a true gentleman, his intelligence, his gift of math, his wonderful sense of humor, and his love for his entire family.

Peter is survived by his wife of 45 years, his son Tom (Breanne), daughters Alexis (Michael Fleming) and Emily (Scott Hofer); 5 grandchildren: Maxwell, Olivia, Paige, Bridget, and Isabel; his beloved older brother John (Cindy) whom he loved deeply; and one of the best pups, Hula. Peter was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Tyke, as well as his parents.

Peter’s family would like to thank our family, friends and neighbors for the love, support, kindness, and encouragement you have shared throughout this past year. We are especially grateful for the many wonderful stories and memories you have shared along the way.

In typical fashion, Peter left early to beat the traffic.
