Aug. 5

Vehicle prowl: In the 2800 block of 82nd Avenue Southeast, someone smashed a motor vehicle window, prowled the vehicle and stole tools and binoculars worth approximately $700.

Property found: A resident in the 7800 block of Southeast 62nd Street found a Connecticut driver’s license and a Capitol One credit card. The finder was unsuccessful in contacting the owner and submitted the property to the Mercer Island Police Department to place in its evidence locker.

Aug. 6

Theft: In the 7300 block of Island Crest Way, someone stole jewelry items worth $29,500. There was no suspect information at that time.

Aug. 7

Vehicle prowl: Someone stole a laptop after prowling a motor vehicle in the 2900 block of 76th Avenue Southeast. The victim found a Facebook marketplace post with a laptop matching the description of her item. The case remains under investigation.

Aug. 9

Theft: Thieves swiped two e-scooters from the east side of the Mercer Island light rail station in the 2500 block of 80th Avenue Southeast. There is possible suspect information, and the case remains under investigation.

Aug. 10

Warrant arrest: Police arrested a subject at the intersection of 77th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 27th Street and the subject was booked into King County Jail for a King County Sheriff’s Office misdemeanor warrant for driving under the influence.

Vehicle prowls: Two motor vehicles were prowled in the 8800 block of Southeast 72nd Place and thieves pilfered an Apple MacBook Pro, a credit card, an ID, a backpack, a wallet, clothing, a gym bag and more.

Aug. 11

Motorcycle theft: A subject couldn’t find his motorcycle after it broke down on Mercer Island at about 11 p.m. on Aug. 6 in the 8400 block of Southeast 26th Street. The subject wasn’t able to return to the Island until Aug. 11. There was no suspect information at that time.
