April 12
Burglary: A 56-year-old woman left her house at the 7100 block of East Mercer Way for two hours, and found that the lock on her upstairs back door had been damage and someone had forced entry into the basement.
Collision: A woman was driving through the parking lot of the Community and Event Center and got into a collision with a man backing out of a parking stall. Neither driver was injured. A MICEC employee provided security footage, which was entered into evidence.
April 13
Fraud: A 65-year-old Island man at the 8600 block of North Mercer Way said a fraudulent income tax return was filed using his identity.
Collision: A car struck another vehicle and a concrete planter containing a street light pole in the QFC parking lot at the 7800 block of S.E. 28th Street. The driver, a 67-year-old Island woman, was charged with inattention. She said the vehicle lurched when she was trying to park it. She recently had her knee replaced and was having trouble moving it.
Theft: A theft of three Sonicare toothbrushes occurred at the South-end Rite-Aid, for a loss of $407.97. Video surveillance of the suspect is being checked and store personnel said they would call when it becomes available.
Fraud: A 58-year-old Island man at the 8400 block of 85th Avenue S.E. reported that his credit card was used to make $3,019.57 in fraudulent charges, before it was cancelled by his bank.
Fraud: A 53-year-old man at the 8800 block of S.E. 74th Place reported IRS fraud and identity theft.
April 14
Fraud: The identities of a 55-year-old man and 52-year-old woman who live on Wembley Lane were used to fraudulently file a joint tax return.
Fraud: The identities of an Island couple, both 60 years old, who live at the 9100 block of S.E. 54th Street were stolen, and a fraudulent tax return was filed in their names.
Collision: A witness observed a vehicle, traveling northbound in the 2700 block of 76th Avenue S.E., strike another car while it was unoccupied and legally parked. The driver was an elderly male, and did not stop to leave his information. The driver said he thought he struck a sewer pot hole. No injuries were reported.
Theft: A 16-year-old Island female had her cell phone stolen while she was at McDonald’s on 78th Avenue S.E.
Fraud: A 52-year-old woman at the 9300 block of S.E. 36th Street said she tried to file her taxes online, and was unable to do so due to her identity being stolen.
Fraud: Unknown suspects used the identities of a 48-year-old woman and 47-year-old man at the 8100 block of West Mercer Way to create a fraudulent tax return.
April 15
Theft: A male suspect stole a bottle of beer, either a 22 ounce bottle of Red Hook ($3.29) or a 22 ounce bottle of Blue Moon ($2.99) according to a witness, from Jackson’s Shell Station on 78th Avenue S.E.
Fraud: The Social Security number of a 54-year-old Island woman at the 9400 block of S.E. 52nd Street was stolen.
Accident: The passenger side window of a car belonging to a 42-year-old Island woman was shattered by a rock at the 4700 block of Island Crest Way.
Fraud: The identities of a 43-year-old man and 44-year-old woman who live on Lindley Road were stolen.
April 16
Death investigation: An 82-year-old male who lives at the 9000 block of S.E. 44th Street reported the death of a 79-year-old woman.
Fraud: A 62-year-old man at the 4600 block of 90th Avenue S.E. said that his identity was stolen.
Fraud: The identities of an Island couple, both 50 years old, who live at the 5700 block of 91st Avenue S.E. were used to file taxes fraudulently.
