MICA announces new board members

Mercer Island Center for the Arts (MICA) announced the election of its Board of Directors and Officers for the following 12 months. Directors and Officers were elected for a one year term at MICA’s annual meeting, held March 10.

Norma Bergquist: A visual artist with international recognition, Norma co-founded the first atelier at the Gage Academy of Art in Seattle. She has served on numerous boards, including Diversity Dance Workshop, Lewis Gregory Scholarship Fund, Blacks at Microsoft, and the United Negro College Fund. She is a retired art director with extensive corporate brand and design experience. Norma and her family love Mercer Island due to its community spirit and commitment to the arts.

Robin Boehler: Owner of the Mercer Island Group, which focuses on client support that includes strategic planning, organizational design strategies, training and facilitation. Robin comes to MICA with experience in education, training, project management, community outreach, public affairs, consulting, board participation and television production.

Patty Lazarus: Former Microsoft account manager, Patty is a published author and community volunteer. Patty has had notable successes organizing campaigns for capital and annual operating fundraising for civic and educational institutions. She has served on numerous civic boards including Woodland Park Zoo, Jewish Community Center and Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. Patty founded and chairs the MICA Guild, whose mission is fundraising.

Bruce Lorig: Founder of Lorig Associates, a development and real estate services company. Through Bruce’s leadership, the Lorig team has built and managed distinctive commercial, residential, office and collegiate properties throughout Washington, Alaska and Oregon.

Pradyumna K. Misra: Worked at Microsoft for 15 years in various roles ranging from engineering to executive management. He co-founded and managed two startups, Mentico and Infibio, served on the boards of Everyone Counts, a for-profit business, and Mercer Island School Foundation, and is currently a partner at Social Venture Partners (SVP). He is passionate about education, philanthropy, technology and problem solving.

Terry Pottmeyer: Former President/CEO of Friends of Youth. A passionate leader for education and children, she has served on several boards that include: Atlantic Street Center, Puget Sound Educational Service District, Washington State Bar Foundation, Page Ahead, Mercer Island Schools, Mercer Island Community Fund and the Mercer Island Youth and Family Services.

MICA will be located on the site of the old recycling center, northwest of Mercerdale Park in the heart of downtown Mercer Island.
