I am one of the guys who got hit by a car on Island Crest Way over the summer, and I think it’s a great idea to make those crosswalks as safe as possible. 
My kneecap was shattered in July, and I was bedridden for the rest of the summer. Today I’m still in physical therapy and probably will be for a while yet. I was lucky, though; something much worse could have happened. 
The repainting and addition of flags were a good start, but these crosswalk lights should be an excellent system to avoid further accidents like mine and the gentleman before me.
