Music in the Park concerts: are at 7 p.m., in Mercerdale Park. July 28, Lois LaFond & the Rockadiles (children’s music); Sunday, July 31, Jude Bowerman (R & B blues); Thursday, Aug. 4, Clinton Fearon and the Boogie Brown Band (reggae); Sunday, Aug. 7, Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra (16-piece jazz band with two vocalists); Thursday, Aug. 11, Jo Miller & Her Burly Roughnecks (hillbilly/honky-tonk swing). Admission is free.

Wooden O Theatre presents free Shakespeare in the Park series. “Macbeth” is at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 28; Friday, July 29; and Saturday, July 30, at Luther Burbank Park Amphitheater.

A Car Wash is from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, July 31, at Mercer Island Auto Spa, 2730 76th Ave. S.E. The cost is $10 per car. Proceeds will benefit the Mercer Island High School girls soccer booster club.

The Ironmensch Bike and Walk, Herzl-Ner Tamid’s summer triathlon, is from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at Herzl-Ner Tamid. A non-competitive play on Ironman triathlons. Rabbi D’var will speak on “The Bicycle as a Jewish Symbol.” Breakfast will be served after the event. The cost is $10. Call 232-8555 for information.

The ProBus Club of Mercer Island will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Presbyterian Church, 3605 84th Ave. S.E. The speaker is former State Senator Jim Horn, past chair of the Senate transportation committee. His topic is “What’s Going on in Transportation?” The public is welcome.

Family Caregiver Support Group meets at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Mercer Island Senior Health Center, 7707 S. E. 27th Street. For more information, call 425-688-5637.

Kings, Castles and Cockroaches! for 5-year-olds and older, is at 1:30 p.m. today. Presented by Charlie Williams, The Noiseguy!

Madeline and the Gypsies for 3-year-olds and older only is at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2. Presented by Northwest Puppet Center. Tickets will be given out a half-hour before each show. Seating is limited.

Story Time is at 11 a.m. Tuesdays, through August 2. Enjoy stories, songs and fun!

The Dragon Who Came to Visit for 5-year-olds and older is at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3. Explore physical sciences, machines, molecules and more. Presented by Mad Science of King County.

Dragons, Dreams and Daring Deeds summer reading program has begun. Bring your child to the library to sign up. There will be free programs, prizes and drawings as children read through the summer.

One-on-One Computer Training is available by appointment. The Interact Club, a group of Mercer Island students sponsored by Rotary, provides the training.

Parks & Rec

Fitness Boot Camp for 16-year-olds and up, is from 6 to 7 a.m. to Aug. 5, at the North Mercer gym, 8817 S.E. 40th St., and the Mercer Island High School track. Bring a water bottle. The cost is $150 for 5 times per week, $90 for 3 times per week.

Mercer Island Branch Sogetsu School of Ikebana Japanese flower arrangement is from 10 a.m. to noon Fridays, to August 19, at West Mercer Elementary, 4141 81st Ave. S.E. Register at Mercer Island Parks and Recreation at 236-3545. The cost is $48.50 for six classes.

? Crazy Carnival Week! Monday, Aug. 8, to Friday, Aug.12. Have fun making booths and carnival games, swim, go on a trip to the Seattle Center and there will be a carnival on Friday.

? Outdoor Adventure Week! Monday, Aug. 15, to Friday, Aug. 19. Go on a trip to Steele Lake Park in Federal Way for swimming and an overnight campout at Dash Point State Park. The cost is $140.

A “Mini Music Camp” for 3- to 5-year-olds is from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 1-5 at West Mercer Elementary School. The cost is $115.

A pre-ballet class for 3- and 4-year-olds will be held at the Boys & Girls Club from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday from Aug. 1-12. The cost is $55.

A gymnastics camp for children ages 5 to 12 held at the high school gym. The camp meets from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and runs Aug. 8-12. The cost is $95.50.

Tennis camps for 3- to 5-year-olds the week of Aug. 1-4. One meets from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m., and the other meets from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Cost is $25.

Little Champs Sport Camp held Aug. 1-5. One is held for 4- and 5-year-olds from 10 a.m. to noon; cost is $74. Another camp for 6- and 7-year-olds meets from 1 to 4 p.m. and costs $82.

Kamp Rock, a day camp for 6-to 11-year-olds, goes outdoors next week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 1-5. The camp meets until the end of August. Cost is $161 per week.Seniors

Galleries

Chamber Art Gallery photography show will run through September. Featured photographers: Derek Juhl, a graduate of Mercer Island High School and the University of Washington; and husband and wife team Ron Reeder, who has reinvented an old technology in printing his photos, and Judith Roan, who prefers black and white classic images. The gallery is at the Chamber of Commerce, 7613 S.E. 27th St.

Jean Jack and Esther Akrish are exhibiting their paintings at Ana’s Restaurant, 2420 76th Ave. S.E., through July.

Maggie LeMoie, Jean Jack and Jim Jaime will be exhibiting their artwork at the Washington Mutual Building through October.

Joan Frey will be showing her paintings at the Mercer Island Library during July.

Reunions

The East Seattle School Class of 1946 is celebrating its 60th reunion this summer, despite that it has been only 59 years since the members finished eighth grade on the Island. The group decided to have the event one year early as the Old East Seattle School may be demolished. It wants to find boats to take the class around the Island. Call Ed Lightfoot at 425-644-9768.

St. Monica Catholic Church: St. Monica Youth Summer Nights is from 8 to 9:30 p.m. every second and fourth Wednesday through Aug. 24. Friends of the Needy, FON, will help serve and deliver food to downtown shelters from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. Tuesdays. Meet in the church kitchen.
