Popular filmmaker Barry Sonnenfeld to participate in SJCC-sanctioned author talk this month

Sonnenfeld will be in discussion with CNN anchor Holly Firfer July 9 over Zoom.

Acclaimed filmmaker Barry Sonnenfeld (“Get Shorty,” “Men in Black”) is giving an author talk in conjunction with Mercer Island’s Stroum Jewish Community Center (SJCC) Thursday, July 9, from 5-6 p.m.

He will be discussing his new memoir, “Call Your Mother,” with CNN news anchor Holly Firfer. The conversation will be followed by a Question and Answer session.

The book, which was published in March, covers Sonnenfeld’s upbringing and his prolific career in Hollywood, replete with witty anecdotes and remembrances of collaborations with Robin Williams, Will Smith, the Coen Brothers and others.

The discussion will take place over Zoom and is free to watch. Participants are encouraged to register in advance.

The July 9 author talk is part of the Book Festival in Your Living Room series, done by SJCC in partnership with the JCCs of Rochester, Miami, Indianapolis and Cherry Hill.
