Anderl announces re-election campaign for Mercer Island City Council

Lisa Anderl has officially announced her candidacy for re-election to the Mercer Island City Council. Serving nearly two terms, Anderl has built a proven record prioritizing public safety, fiscal responsibility and preserving Mercer Island’s cherished quality of life. Anderl seeks re-election to continue addressing the most critical issues facing the community.

During her tenure, Anderl has focused on initiatives that reinforce Mercer Island as a safe, green and welcoming community, including:

• Protecting parks and open spaces: Advocated for zoning changes to establish dedicated zones for parks and open spaces and supported a successful levy to enhance park maintenance and improvements.

• Fiscal sustainability: Consistently championed operational efficiency and fiscal discipline, leading initiatives that resulted in cost savings and greater effectiveness within city government.

• Public safety: Worked closely with local law enforcement to enhance community safety, advocating for improved equipment and spearheading stronger regulations to maintain clean, secure public spaces.

• Infrastructure development: Promoted significant upgrades to city infrastructure, including modernization of water and sewer systems, road improvements, and recreational facility enhancements such as the Bike Skills Area at Deane’s Children’s Park and major improvements to Luther Burbank Park.

• Community engagement: Supported essential services and community enrichment programs through Mercer Island Youth and Family Services, Parks and Recreation and the community center, benefiting residents across all age groups.

With more than 40 years of experience as an attorney, Anderl brings valuable analytical and negotiation skills crucial for effective leadership. Her campaign emphasizes continuity, building upon past successes, and addressing emerging community needs, particularly the development of new city facilities.
