The city of Mercer Island will hold its annual Arbor Day event to celebrate the local urban tree canopy from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Clarke Beach Park. Residents are invited to participate in the community planting at the event that is organized by the city’s Natural Resources team. According to the city, the planting will “ensure the Island’s magnificent forest ecosystem thrives, both now and well into the future.” Attendees will plant more than 200 native plants and spread mulch to help protect the plants from weeds.
