Mercer Island resident and author Robbie Bach will appear at a signing event for his novel, “The Blockchain Syndicate: A Contemporary Thriller,” at 7 p.m. on Oct. 21 at Island Books (3014 78th Ave. SE).

This is the second book in his techno thriller series and, according to a press release, it rolls out like this: “A dead man blackmails a U.S. senator. A shadowy syndicate unleashes financial chaos. A war hero must risk everything to save her family and the country she swore to protect.”

Bach, a former chief Xbox officer at Microsoft, is now involved in philanthropy, civic advocacy and storytelling. His first novel, “The Wilkes Insurrection,” introduced readers to Senator Tamika Smith in a high-stakes battle against a domestic terror conspiracy, reads a press release.
