Fiddler on the Roof is an emotionally rich story told with music that, in simplest form, is about confronting challenges in life. Nearly anyone can relate to the struggles of the main character, Tevye, a common but congenial dairyman, as he confronts the concentric circles of the challenges to his family, his livelihood, his village, his customs, his future, and most of all, to his deeply ingrained religious beliefs that hold together his entire life.
This classic musical is full of heartfelt moments and favorite songs that resonate with people around the world.
“As we experience the confrontations and challenges in Fiddler on the Roof, consider that this distinctly Jewish experience touches on life experience for many of us,” said Fiddler on the Roof Director Mark Ramquist. “For a few hours, we accept Tevye’s invitation to become part of Anatevka, part of the circle of Jewish families…Together we’ll smile and laugh, sing and dance, argue and yell, weep and mourn. Together we’ll respond to the confrontations of life, and find our balance as fiddlers on the roof.”
