A car accident on Tuesday afternoon, shortly before 1 p.m., left a car straddling the sidewalk and bushes bordering the North-end QFC parking lot off of S.E. 28th Street.

The driver of a Mercedes Benz appeared to have missed a turn, sideswiped a car in the street and overcorrected, hitting the lamp post before hitting a van parked in the QFC parking lot.

Shawn Matheson, battalion chief for the Mercer Island Fire Department, said no one was seriously hurt, although the driver of the Mercedes was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

The street was temporarily closed until the tow truck could arrive to remove the car.
