Changing of the guard at Mercer Island Kiwanis

Former Mercer Island resident Bernard Feldman was installed as president of Mercer Island Kiwanis on Sept. 13, replacing former Mercer Island attorney Rick Sessions. Feldman's term begins Oct. 1.

Former Mercer Island resident Bernard Feldman was installed as president of Mercer Island Kiwanis on Sept. 13, replacing former Mercer Island attorney Rick Sessions. Feldman’s term begins Oct. 1.

Replacing “Bernie” Feldman as treasurer is Carol Mahoney, outgoing area Kiwanis lieutenant governor. Retired Mercer Island veterinarian Dr. Harry Dingwall remains at the dual role of vice president and club secretary.

Islanders Mike Tye, “Bunny” Rogers, Jim Stipes and Mercer Island Boy and Girls club representative Dena Harkovitch remain on the board, along with former Islander Sally Johnson and Sessions. Officiating was past Lt. Governor Jackie Roberts of Issaquah Kiwanis.

Stipes was awarded as the Kiwanian of the Year, and Inge Lettini was recognized for her dedication to fundraising, primarily as Kiwanis’ representative in the coalition of the local Masons and V.F.W. to continue legal safe and sane fireworks sales on Mercer Island. Framed certificates of recognition for their important and continued contributions were also awarded to Rogers, Feldman and Tye.
