City to receive grant from PSE to install solar panels at MICEC

PSE awards $30,000 to City for exceeding Green Power Challenge goal, more than 750 homes and businesses signed up to support renewable energy

The City has exceeded its revised Green Power Challenge goal set by Puget Sound Energy (PSE) for enrolling new Green Power customers and has earned a $30,000 grant towards a new solar photovoltaic system at the Community Center.

The results of the 2012 challenge include more than 750 local homes and businesses signing up for Green Power and supporting renewable energy. These efforts equal a 55% increase in Green Power customers and the resulting energy saved has the effect of taking 772 cars off the road each year.

There will be a ceremony including a presentation of a check to the City by the PSE Green Power Team Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. at Mercer Island City Hall.
