Duncan and Edwards will discuss emergency medical system at April 16 Rotary meeting

Kim Duncan and Norris Edwards will discuss “Medic One Foundation: A Behind the Scenes Look at Our Exceptional Emergency Medical System” at the Rotary Club of Mercer Island’s meeting on April 16 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center, 8236 SE 24th St. The main meeting begins at 12:30 p.m. Guests are always welcome and there is no fee to attend. An optional buffet lunch is available for purchase.

Medic One Foundation staff will provide a behind-the-scenes look at how its emergency medical system works, the critical elements for its lifesaving success, how citizens are an important link in the chain of survival, and the role the Medic One Foundation plays in supporting Medic One’s success. The Medic One Foundation is a local nonprofit dedicated to saving lives by improving pre-hospital emergency care.

Main speaker Duncan, the executive director of Medic One Foundation, has more than two decades of experience in nonprofits, including roles at Providence and Evergreen Health Foundations. Her involvement with the Medic One Foundation began in 2000 as the director of finance and philanthropy, where she played a pivotal role in steering the organization’s financial and fundraising endeavors.

Additional speaker Edwards, the community outreach coordinator at the Medic One Foundation, has a distinguished career spanning more than three decades as a Seattle firefighter/paramedic and has demonstrated his commitment to public safety and emergency medicine. Since August 2021, Edwards has served as a dedicated advocate for community health and safety, leading initiatives to educate individuals of all ages on CPR/AED, first aid and emergency medicine.
