Children and parents participated in the 15th annual Walk to School Day event on Mercer Island on Wednesday morning, Oct. 3. The walk is an international event shared with Canada and the United Kingdom.

In 2011, over 4,000 Walk to School Day events were registered nationwide, a record high, and many additional communities that did not register also held events.
