Gallagher Hill erosion control project underway

The City is working on a new storm water project in the Gallagher Hill open space, which will help with erosion during high rains.

The City is working on a new storm water project in the Gallagher Hill open space, which will help with erosion during high rains.

The project will protect the lake from siltations and water quality problems caused by erosion during high flow events and down-cutting of the stream channel.

The project will be done in two phases, with storm water piping currently being installed on the hillside, and then in-channel work which is scheduled to take place in mid-September.

Crews will restore a 600-foot reach of stream and 200-foot reach of tributary as part of the work, which will also include stabilization work.

The work is expected to cost around $327,000 including design, construction and management.
